Professional Negligence

Glovers act for a range of both commercial and private clients in bringing claims against their professional advisors, with a particular focus on clients from the financial institution and real estate sectors.

We have a long-standing reputation in this field which was originally built when we acted for a number of financial institutions which suffered in the property market crash in the early 1990s. Our reputation and experience has been further enhanced by the surge of work that arose in the aftermath of the 2008 credit crunch.

We have specialist expertise in lender claims, particularly property-based claims against valuation and quantity surveyors and solicitors, acting for both commercial and residential lenders. The claims we have brought often encompass both negligence and fraud. We have managed complex, multi-million pound portfolios of claims for institutional lenders as well as running negligence claims for private clients against their professional advisers, including solicitors, accountants, architects, engineers and surveyors.

Professional negligence cases often involve an element of banking, fraud or property, being areas in which Glovers’ dispute resolution department also has expertise. We are also able to call upon the skills of Glovers’ non-contentious property specialists as required for the maximum benefit of clients.

As with all disputes, we are always looking to achieve the most cost-effective means of settling clients’ cases and many of the professional negligence claims we are involved in are resolved through ADR, particularly by mediation.
