Property Finance

Our property finance team has been a stand-alone department for over 30 years the sole focus of which is to act for lenders and ensure that loan transactions complete efficiently and with minimum fuss. Of course, we must also protect the lender, as far as possible, from any issues affecting the security. To that end we must also play "devil's advocate" and try to envisage future issues that could arise but our aim is always to find a commercial solution to such issues.

It may be stating the obvious, but we are always aware that a lender will want to provide a good service to the customer and make the advance as quickly as possible, or perhaps by a certain deadline, but a lender must also consider future enforcement situations and consider what measures to put in place in order to protect itself. Our aim is to ensure that any risks are fully explained so that a lender can make an informed decision when deciding whether to proceed with a loan.

We have gained an excellent reputation for the work that we do with banks and financial institutions. We act for a number of domestic and international private, retail and merchant banks. We have been described in the banking section of the Legal 500 as "highly regarded".

Our team of dedicated property finance lawyers combines all the benefits of a smaller firm with the expertise normally associated with a much larger one.

We have considerable expertise in both investment and development property lending and offer a full service including the preparation of facility letters, loan agreements and security documentation. Unlike many larger firms, one person will deal with both the property and the security side of the transaction.

We pride ourselves on offering commercial and business-minded advice and solutions that meet the requirements of borrowers whilst protecting the lender’s security.

When required, we also work closely with our construction department to advise on development projects and, where necessary, take security over construction documentation.
