Glovers has achieved wide coverage in seven key practice areas in the recently published Legal 500.

Glovers continue to be ranked alongside some of the largest city firms. The Legal 500 assess firms not only on size and resources, but also on the extent to which a client recommends that firm in a particular field. The recognition Glovers has received in the 2011 Edition is an independent confirmation of the increasing strength of the firm.

Our practice areas are recognised as follows:

Commercial Property (General, Development, Hotels and Leisure), Construction, Property Finance, Property Litigation, and Professional Negligence:  the firm is recommended or mentioned in each of these categories.

Commercial Property: Glovers again achieved a ranking for its commercial property work, with separate entries for general commercial property work, commercial property – development, and commercial property – hotels and leisure.  The Legal 500 recognises that Glovers’ “response time and general service are excellent”.  Glovers not only continues to handle most of the property work for Gondola Holdings (Pizza Express, Zizzi and ASK) and Nandos but is also the sole advisor to Prezzo.

Construction: Glovers is ranked once again for its Construction work, being described as “easy to deal with and good value for money”.  Philip Eyre has again been praised for his “good technical experience” from his background as a chartered quantity surveyor.  The Legal 500 notes that in 2010, the team acted for Investec Bank Plc.

Property Finance:  Described as “a leading firm for mid-market deals”, Glovers is ranked yet again for its Property Finance work.  The Legal 500 finds Glovers’ “ability to suggest solutions a real bonus compared with many firms who simply highlight the issues and await instructions”.  The Legal 500 writes that clients include Close Brothers and Royal Bank of Canada Trustees. Richard Gilchrist and Andrew Parker are commended for being “excellent” and “extremely efficient”.

Property Litigation: Headed by Joint Senior Partner Edward Vaughan who is described as “tenacious”, Glovers is again ranked in the Legal 500 for its Property Litigation Work. Alongside advising the owners of Pizza Express in restaurant disputes, the Legal 500 notes that Glovers was particularly active in 2010 advising LPA receivers.

Banking Litigation:  Glovers is recommended as “particularly active in the enforcement of secured loans and follow-on claims against guarantors, valuers and conveyancing solicitors”.

Professional Negligence: The firm achieved a ranking for its professional negligence work.
