Glovers appear in Privy Council
Glovers acted as Privy Council Agents for four Appellants in respect of an Appeal heard on 24 and 25 June relating to two important procedural points from the British Virgin Islands. The issues in this matter were whether:-
1. Upon an application under Part 9.7 of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court Civil Procedure Rules 2000 (“EC CPR”) for an Order staying the claim on the ground that the British Virgin Islands was forum non conveniens evidence had to be filed contemporaneously with the application.
2. The High Court has inherent jurisdiction to stay the claim at any time made against them on the grounds of forum non conveniens, irrespective of Rule 9.7 of the EC CPR.
Judgment is to follow in due course.
